This is where you talk about the EV3 software itself, installation issues, and programming talk.

The title says it all, I just want to know if it is possible and if anyone has a method on how to do so. Generally when I work on the code, the robot itself does not have access to the network (university wifi, impossible to connect to), and I want to know if I can transfer code that I'm working on at school to the EV3. Either by use of the cable or the SD card we use for the EV3. A simple drag and drop would be ideal but it's not even that easy with the old NXT.

If you are using 0.4.0 then when you plug your EV3 into your PC your PC will see the EV3 as a network card. If you PC is windows based it will automatically configure things such that TCP/IP is running over USB and you can connect to the EV3 using address 10.0.1.1 if your PC is running Linux you may have to do a little more work but you should still be able to get TCP/Ip up and running to the EV3 via USB. Once you have TCP you can use ssh and scp to connect to your EV3 and to copy files to it.
You can also use a Bluetooth PAN to basically do the same as the above but over Bluetooth.
