Problem installing leJOS

Postby nelse » Wed Nov 23, 2011 3:09 pm

Hi all!

I am trying to install LeJOs 0.9 on Mac os x snow leopard.
I started by installing the Lego Mindstorms software (Standard Lego Software) with the Snow Leopard fix provided by lego and all worked fine. I was following the step by step guide, but I always get a ClassDefNotFoundError when I try to run "nxjbrowse -u" command.

These are the variables that I set:
Code: Select all
export JAVA_HOME=/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home
export NXJ_HOME=/Users/nelse/lejos_nxj
export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=$NXJ_HOME/bin
export PATH=$PATH:$JAVA_HOME/bin:$NXJ_HOME/bin

Can someone help me to figure out where the error might be?

Thank you for your help!

Which guide did you follow?
I'm aware of some non-official step by step guide that suggests replacing the scripts in the bin directory with some other scripts. But they don't work with leJOS 0.9.0. Use the scripts that come with leJOS 0.9.0.

Thank you for the quick reply!

I was following this guide http://www.sjefdesign.nl/?p=651. In fact I did replace the bin folder.
I am not able to test this right now, but I let you all know If this solves the problem.

Cheers,

USB connections will surely fail with this for leJOS .90 The needed jnilib was moved to /lib/pc/native/macosx I believe.

No they won't. leJOS doesn't rely on setting DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH anymore.

Thank you again for your help.

I copied the bin folder and nxjbrowse worked pretty good through usb connection.

I think that eclipse will not be able to connect through USB, am I right? Is there any way to work that around (besides bluetooth, of course).

Cheers,

You should download download a 32Bit edition of Eclipse. Not a 64Bit version. I believe it should work fine.

To use the plugin, keep the following in mind:

1) To flash the lejos firmware to the brick via the plugin, OSX users must use 32 bit Eclipse

2) 32 bit AND 64 bit Eclipse both support Bluetooth/USB connections
but the user must:
EITHER
specify -d32 in the Default VM Arguments
[Eclipse --> preferences --> Java --> installed JREs --> select the JRE
--> edit --> add -d32 to Default VM Arguments
    ]
OR
    specify -d32 in the
    run configuration for each program.
