Unable to use NXJ Browser and other tools

Postby Rickz2020 » Wed Feb 08, 2012 11:12 pm

I've been trying to get the file browser up but it's just not opening...

I've tried all the .bat files and the debugger is not working either.

I tried double clicking the .bat files and executing them from the command line and I get this error:
Error occurred during initilization of VM
Unable to load native library: Can't find dependent libraries

I have tried reinstalling the fantom driver and even tried installing the lego driver but it's not compatible as I'm using windows 7 x64.

Any ideas? Can I launch the tools from eclipse?

Oh, and I've noticed I don't have the fantom.dll file in /src/jfantom (i think it's supposed to be there?)

Rich.

Download Driver 1.1.3 from this site: http://mindstorms.lego.com/en-us/support/files/Driver.aspx. The driver is compatible with Windows 7 64Bit.
Also, can you copy/paste the full output you see in the console?
I have never seen "Error occurred during initilization of VM" before.

If you're talking about src/jfantom, are you using 0.9.0? Please also consider switching to 0.9.1.
And no, jfantom.dll is not expected to exist in src/jfantom. fantom.dll is supposed to be in you Windows directory (either system32 or syswow64). And jfantom.dll is loaded from lib/pc/native/windows/x86

Hi,

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling that driver about 5 times now as well as trying different USB ports for the NXT - still no luck.

About the error, that is the entire error:

Error occurred during initilization of VM
Unable to load native library: Can't find dependent libraries

I get that error output when using the ms-prompt command line as well as double clicking. I get no error on the eclipse console nor on the NXT LCD.

Fantom.dll is indeed in sysWOW64 :D

I've tried leJOS 0.9.1 but it was giving me problems with the Bluetooth. After sending data from my Android to the NXT (once) via BT, the NXT would stop accepting data from the Android, and so I reinstalled 0.9.0.

I have java 6 installed and it's in /program files (x86)/java. DO you think installing java 7 would make a difference?

Please try uninstalling all JDKs and reinstalling a JDK. I recommend latest 1.6 or 1.7.
Does Java work with other programs?

I believe the error is not leJOS related:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2516890/error-occurred-during-initialization-of-vm

You also might want to cleanup your PATH variables and remove the JDKs from it.
The recommended way of telling which JDK to use is by setting LEJOS_NXT_JAVA_HOME now.

It's working now, thanks :D

I gave Java 7-32bit, Eclipse 32-bit and the eclipse-leJOS plugin all a fresh install, set up the GUI tools and they're working again. Not sure what went wrong, but all's well now.
