A NXT simulator

Postby aegidius » Tue Sep 28, 2010 6:53 am

Based on my game library JGameGrid I developed a simple NXT simulation environment. It implements the classes from NxtJLib, a OOP shell to the leJOS classes.

This is really neat. Thank you for sharing. It looks like a great way to help young (and not-so-young) adults get a feel for programming their robots. I also think it is awesome how you made it possible to click a link to execute the samples.

Very nice thing.

Robocode is something similar. Robocode is a playfield for a virtual war using tank robots. The robots detect bumps, have a cannon as usual and a 360 degree radar to detect and identify enemies. The game comes with a lot of pre-programmed robots and you can add your own robots.
The goal of that game is to learn Programming robots in Java in a funny and cheap way.

Now we have two must-have-seen programs :-)

Thanks very much for sharing this. I am teaching a Java/Robotics class next year, and not every child taking the class owns an NXT kit. This should help me keep everyone learning and engaged. Outstanding!

This actually looks pretty cool. Would it be possible to have it take a .lxf file from Lego Digital Designer, and create the robot? I'm also using two controllers here, and more than 3 motors.
