Two motors, one port

Postby ruperty » Wed Nov 20, 2013 2:36 pm

Hi,
Is there a way to control two motors through one port (same speed)? Perhaps a multiplexing cable?

There is a system I want to build that needs four motors.
Regards,
Rupert

No you can't connect two motors to a single port and have it work. There are motor mux devices out there - which connect to a sensor port - not sure if they would work for you, they are complex and relatively expensive. The Ev3 has 4 motor ports...

Yes, I am thinking about it, but not clear on the status of lejos. Am I able to run NXT motors and the Hitechnic gyro from the EV3, via lejos/Java?

Yes you are, but please note that all of this stuff is very new. So if this is for any sort of time critical project (like a University project etc.), then using the EV3 may not be the best way to go...
