Additional Sensor Support

Postby t1techno » Tue Dec 17, 2013 10:19 pm

There are some really nice sensors out there that already have full lejos support.

Example - some of the 3rd party sensors from Dexter Industries - have existing Lejos drivers

Is it possible that they could be incorporated into Enchanting since they already have a Lejos driver?

I am asking as I have been asked to possibly teach a Robotics workshop in Summer 2014 or Spring 2015 and I want to teach people Enchanting.

Check the variety of NXT supported sensors, controllers and etc

http://dexterindustries.com/products.html

I own several of these is why I was asking about the Lejos drivers

Hi t1techno.

Yes, I've designed Enchanting so it is straightforward for a developer to add new sensors to it. I'm afraid my focus has shifted, though, and I'm not working on Enchanting much these days :( I'd love to add support for additional sensors -- wish I had time to do everything!

I am decent with Java and would be willing to help with some guidance or examples. It would be a big benefit to my students to add this in for the future.

Hi t1techno.

Thank you for the offer. I have a page up with instructions on how to add a new peripheral at http://enchanting.robotclub.ab.ca/Peripheral+Creation .

Take a look at it and e-mail me directly when you get stuck and I'll make time to help.

Cheers,
Clinton
