Detecting Pitch from the Sound Sensor

Postby Myn » Mon Feb 24, 2014 7:56 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm currently trying to get a Sound Sensor to detect pitch, yet despite my best efforts I can only seem to find information on volume. After searching around online the closest I seem to have come up with is a third party hardware solution -- a Pitch Sensor -- which has been discontinued. Various descriptions I have encountered of the Sound Sensor include the phrase "Sound pattern and tone recognition"; I'm not very knowledgeable about sound but to me this implies that something other than volume is being measured by the Sensor.

Is there any way to programmatically get pitch data (or any other data aside from volume) from the Sound Sensor, or is this a hardware limitation?

Thank you very much in advance,
Zack

Pretty sure you only get volume from it.
