Our first beta release is now out!
This release is self-contained and does not require use of Git.
The files are on sourceforge under 0.8.1-beta. On Microsoft Windows, there is an installer that you should use. The installer installs the jar files, batch files and documentation to C:\Program Files (x86)\leJOS - the leJOS home directory. A tool called EV3SDCard is called at the end of installation to take you through setting up the SD card. The process is the same as at the 0.8.0 release.
The best way to use leJOS now is to install the Eclipse plugin, and set the EV3_HOME preference setting to the leJOS home directory. The Eclipse plugin will create projects for you, and upload, run and debug leJOS EV3 programs. You can also use it to import the samples.
The instructions are on the Wiki, Instructions for Linux and MAC OSX users, and non-Eclipse users are currently a bit sketchy.
If you used a previous version of leJOS, it is best to delete all the development projects from Eclipse as they are no longer needed. If you want to keep them, you should switch them to the 0.8.1-beta tag. You can use the leJOS EV3 context menu to convert any existing projects to use the Eclipse plugin.
As well as the new installer and Eclipse plugin, this release has menu improvements and improvements to the samples. It also has a new kernel module that fixes a problem with the EV3 Color sensor RGB mode. Oracle 8 is not yet supported - that will be in the next release.
Let us know how you get on.
