Hi,

does leJOS 0.6 support native RS-485 communication with other devices ?

Hi Andy,

first of all, I want to try to talk to another NXT :-)
Second, I want to communicate with my external MCU (ATMega32).
NXT-->RS485-->MCU-->SPI-->SD-Card

I2C or BT is soooooooo slow and not really usable for external storage io :-)

I've made some tests with pbLua and it works fine. Speed is =< 931kB/s (halfduplex)

It would be very nice to use Port4/RS485 communication with leJOS.
I need some basic routines for:
RS485open(speed)
RS485read(bytes)
RS485write(bytes)

Thanks for your response
Bye

Hi again,

another idea is:

using the motor ports and sensors from second NXT, connected via RS485.
Using LCP or/and remote commands over this fast link would be nice.

Feature request: rs485 lowlevel commands and API

Hi,
Well we have just released leJOS 0.7. Now we have that out of the way I'm working on RS-485 support.. I've added some basic hardware support and am now taking a look at adding some higher level protocol support...

So watch this space...
